JOB SUMMARY

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)-Georgia Academy for the Blind (GAB) is hiring for an experienced HR Tech 2 position. Under direct supervision, the Human Resources (HR) Technician 2, is responsible for providing various human resources and administrative services to support the daily operations for Georgia Academy for the Blind (GAB). The HR Technician 2 is primarily responsible for providing exceptional customer service and HR support to internal staff at GAB, external customers, and stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for preparing and reporting various HR transactions to the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) State School and Central Office Human Resources. Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

  • Associate degree in business administration or a related field
  • Experience in a human resources-related function with a State of Georgia agency or a local school district
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft HRMS and Time and Labor
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience performing human resources job-related functions; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Tech 1 (HRT010) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries and answer general questions from internal and external customers
  • Collaborate with the hiring managers to implement the GaDOE recruitment process
  • Submit Personnel Action Requests (PARs) for various HR transactions in OpenGov
  • Verify and interpret the Georgia Professional Standard Commission (GaPSC) educator certifications
  • Interpret various salary calculations for employees
  • Interpret the 200-day school calendar and pay scale documents for salary purposes
  • Perform various calculations for salary and supplemental pay
  • Navigate the PeopleSoft Time and Labor database to maintain attendance records for employees
  • Implement criminal background checks and drug screening for the new hire process
  • Maintain various HR reports and documents
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resources files and records
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records
  • Support the administrative operations at GAB
  • Other duties as assigned
