Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the SCIPI shared services team, the HR Training & Safety Specialist plays a vital role in leading safety compliance initiatives, managing cross-divisional safety committees, and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. This role will promote a safe and informed work environment, enhance company culture through effective communication, training, and development, and facilitate mandatory training through the LMS.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in managing Learning Management Systems (LMS) platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Office Suite
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards
  • Prior experience with LMS systems and/or willingness to learn
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, safety management or similar field
  • Strong regulatory experience
  • Experience managing internal communication platforms or intranets is preferred
  • Certifications: PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. at a time and perform physical task related to safety inspections
  • Must be able to meet with employees and conduct tours at multiple sites including inside shop locations which may be dusty or dirty for the purpose of assisting employees and potential new hires

Responsibilities:

  • Learning Management System Oversight & Content Creation: manage and develop the LMS to create engaging, compliant, and professional content, implement mandatory training programs, design interactive sessions, customize learning pathways, collect feedback for continuous improvement, and maintain a centralized resource hub for transparent communication
  • Safety Compliance, Workers Compensation, & Program Management: develop, implement, and manage safety compliance programs, lead safety committees, create training materials, conduct audits, ensure incident reporting, manage Workers Comp claims, and maintain OSHA injury records
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: stay informed on safety regulations, ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA, prepare and submit reports, and act as the primary contact for regulatory inspections
  • Employee Engagement & Communication: promote a culture of safety and compliance, support managers and team members, communicate policy changes, and highlight success stories to foster shared accomplishments
  • Additional Responsibilities: participate in meeting and training events, assist with recruiting and intranet management, and perform other duties as assigned
