Description:

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in WHS/OHS or equivalent.
  • Experience in risk assessment, monitoring risk controls, developing, analysing and reporting on HSE performance, compliance and/or non-conformance.
  • Knowledge of WHS and Environmental legislation and statutes and ability to interpret applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project(s).
  • Experience in preparing, conducting and presenting ICAM investigation reports (or other industry recognised investigation methodology)
  • Knowledge of HSE Management System techniques and tools
  • First Aid Training
  • Construction White Card
  • Current Drivers License

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Darwin based HSE Advisor, you will support a number of projects to meet the requirements of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System. You will involve assisting site teams and managers by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining and improving Darwin operation’s health, safety and environmental standards. You will also support the HSE Manager – Australia with strategic and operational oversight of our health, safety and environment streams and drive frameworks and initiatives across operations in line with our organisation’s strategic direction.

KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide consistent and accurate advice on HSE matters in accordance with Austal’s Health Safety and Environmental Management System, and legislative requirements.
  • Provide support HSE induction and onboarding processes visitors, contractors and new employees.
  • Monitor and promote incident reporting into Austal’s reporting system, support management teams for the completion of level 2 and 3 investigations, and lead and facilitate level 1 investigations.
  • Monitor and support action management in accordance with Austal’s Health Safety and Environmental Management System requirements.
  • Support Injury Management activities and provide on-site functions that enable fitness for work processes are implemented.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and HSE system management in accordance with HSE financial year targets, as required operationally and when and where risks are identified.
  • Develop, implement, and revise internal HSE audit and workplace inspection program.
  • Coordinate worker health and safety representative functions in line with business and legislative requirements.
  • Point of Contact for facilities issues and administer facilities maintenance functions in accordance with site services processes.
