Responsibilities:
Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a unique and exciting opportunity for a HSE Manager based in Glasgow on Leading the Direction and Strategy for HSE for operating areas in the UK
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Responsible for the effective leadership and management of a HSE team, ensuring that at a positive culture is developed in relation to the management and implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental best practices.
- Responsible for strategic planning and implementation of HSE functions across the Project(s)
- Work closely with business assurance colleagues to ensure effective implementation of necessary procedures and practices across the Project(s)
- Responsible for producing periodic reports as required by the business in relation to HSE performance across the Project(s) and for feeding the information within the reports back the Senior Management Team.
- Undertake weekly/monthly/quarterly meetings with the team to ensure a unified approach to the management HSE across all sites. Additionally work closely with other HRL Project(s) to ensure unity across the business and to adopt a systematic approach to the development of documents, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the overall management and enhancement of the Health, Safety and Environmental functions across all sites associated within the Project(s) including outstations and offices where identified.
- Responsible for ensuring that risk is adequately managed through effective risk assessment processes to reduce all risks to an acceptable level across the Project(s) in relation to HSE issues and records are maintained across company-wide activities. Also to ensure that TMC’s, Outstations and Offices (where required) have a programme to identify recommendations and work towards closing out issues identified.
- Support the investigation, where required, of accidents / incidents and reporting back findings to the senior management team through monthly reporting structure and Senior Management Team Meetings.
- Responsible for the identification and reporting back on accident trends ensuring that where identified, action plans are developed to reduce trends to a satisfactory level.
- Responsible for ensuring that the programme of external audits is adhered to across all functions within the Project(s) and all issues raised are effectively managed to closure through the recognised tracking mechanisms in place at HRL in relation to ISO 14001 and 45001. Additionally, offer support to site Management teams in the audit process.
- Ensure suitable levels of HSE management are maintained in all areas of the Project(s) necessary to maintain a safe working environment and define responses to known problems or issues arising.
- Responsible for the management of budgets in relation to department costs ensuring that that company budgetary constraints are considered and managed effectively.
- Responsible for supporting Business Assurance in audits and assessments of approved suppliers to HSE Management Systems as required.
- Responsible for ensuring that the internal Safety and Environmental audits schedule is completed effectively and in full
