Description:

We are actively seeking an engaging and passionate HSE Manager who will take total responsibility for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) matters relating to the site. This involves maintaining and developing Unilin’s ISO 9001, 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems, ensuring compliance with Unilin’s EPA license, and managing in-house Health and Safety systems. You will provide EHS support and advice to management and employees, actively promote a culture of EHS, and work to eliminate loss in the areas of injury, illness, and material damage.
Permanent role, Monday to Friday, based on site

Key Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health & safety or a related field desirable
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar position within the manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety legislation and UK regulations
  • Knowledge of COMAH regulations
  • Working knowledge of Windows IT-based applications
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, with an ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills

Key Tasks and Duties:

  • Manage and ensure adherence to COMAH and DSEAR regulations
  • Implement and support the H&S management system
  • Conduct on-site risk assessments and review current risk assessments
  • Responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the reporting EHS Officer, ensuring they have the tools and guidance necessary to perform their role effectively
  • Develop, implement, and update health and safety policies & procedures
  • Design, plan, conduct, and/or coordinate appropriate health and safety training programs (e.g., manual handling, first aid)
  • Conduct induction training for new employees and those returning after a prolonged absence; maintain comprehensive training records
  • Ensure compliance with H&S legislation; educate and coach managers and employees on improving safety performance
  • Update the Company Safety Statement as required by changes in legislation or circumstances
  • Report any accidents or incidents to the HSE as required by law and company insurers
  • Maintain the Safety Statement and act as a member of the Safety Committee
  • Provide H&S training, including H&S induction and chemical awareness
  • Maintain a database of chemicals & PPE
  • Maintain the Fire Safety Register
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including the Waste Management Permit Regulations 2001
  • Monitor and report on environmental compliance
  • Prepare environmental reports for the EA and local authorities; liaise with government bodies regularly
  • Manage waste movements in and out of the facility, ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Liaise with operations daily to ensure site compliance
  • Conduct site assessments, internal audits, and maintain daily/weekly records
  • Manage, coach, and develop the reporting EHS Officer to ensure effective performance in their role
  • Uphold the ethos and standards of the company
  • Undertake other tasks appropriate to the position as requested by management
  • Work flexible hours to meet deadlines as needed
