Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of Off-site Prefabricated solutions for the commercial M&E sectors throughout Ireland and UK. Through continuous investment within our teams, and our facilities, we have grown strongly over the years and established ourselves as a leader within the offsite pre-fabrication industry throughout Ireland and the UK.
We are looking to integrate a HSE Officer (Maternity Cover) temporary role, to provide general assistance and support to the Office, Stores, Site & Fabrication Teams, ensuring safe practice, & environmental compliance is being controlled in a safe and healthy environment. Liaising with Staff, Contractors, Clients & Partners ensuring the correct policies are being followed, including your attendance on any site H&S walks and daily briefs.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Proven HSE experience for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Experience of working in New Build and M&E construction environments.
  • Experience of undertaking health and safety audits.
  • Experience of lifting operations and associated hazards.
  • Experience of creating RAMS for complex works.
  • Knowledge of health and safety aspects, including legislation and technical standards.
  • Accident and incident investigation experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational, planning and communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to deal with clients & internal staff.
  • Ability to influence change and challenge those who flaunt H&S rules and guidance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on own initiatives to achieve self and team targets.
  • Ability to proactively deal with employees all levels across the company to come up with solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages I.e. word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook etc
  • Ability to travel to other sites across the UK.
  • Full UK Driving licence

Responsibilities:

  • Provide HSE advice and support to Managers, supervisors, and colleagues for the entire company workforce, subcontracted labour, other site workers and members of the public.
  • To develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement and continual improvement.
  • To create & maintain safe systems of work (RAMS etc) and ensure these are being effectively applied.
  • Maintain contractor onboarding and evaluation process.
  • Plan, review and record Emergency preparedness across all sites across company locations
  • To complete/maintain HSE Office, Site, Workshop & Equipment inspections & records.
  • Driving continual improvement, including through Don’t Walk By Campaign.
  • To complete incident investigations and identify and implement improvement measures.
  • Become aware of the functions of other members of staff in the department as they affect your work.
  • To attend necessary meetings as required.
  • To undertake assigned work in a professional and efficient way, in compliance with current HSE legislation, regulatory requirements and the company’s Integrated Management Systems.
  • To communicate, behave in a professional, helpful and non-prejudicial manner in all your dealings with colleagues, clients and customers as you will be regarded as a representative of your department and the Company, and you should behave accordingly.
  • Deliver regular toolbox & induction talks.
  • To maintain high standards of work within your department.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by Management.
