Regional HSE Adviser (North)
Reporting of the Role
This role reports to Head of HSEQ
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
- Provide professional HSE support and advice, supported by the Head of HSEQ and working closely with the Regional Operations Management and Projects teams, to support their improvement of HSE performance, through effective communication, direction, coaching, awareness, and encouragement helping them achieve compliance to standards and year-on-year improvements in performance.
- Ensure sure HSE policies and procedures, including risk assessments and method statements, are fit for purpose and effectively applied to ensure the health and safety of our and customer employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public who may be affected by the company’s activities.
- Supporting the maintenance and improvement of Outdoor’s H&S, Environmental and Quality management systems.
- Support the Global Approved Contractor and Supplier process through HSE performance assessment, inspection and auditing.
- Develop good working relationships with Franchise HSE professionals and the Global Partnership team.
- Accident and incident investigation and support where necessary.
- Maintain a good understanding of H&S legislation and provide practical guidance and support to the business as appropriate.
- Understand the health and safety requirements of Global’s franchise partners and ensure that internal documentation, procedures and practices comply with them.
- Supporting the development of the Regional Ops. Safety Improvement Plan with appropriate objectives and/or improvement opportunities agreed and assigned to the responsible department / individual and monitoring those actions are carried out within the timescale.
- Provide, support and direction to ensure that Outdoor meets the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards, SafeContractor, Network Rail (or equivalent) and RISQS accreditations.
- To provide HSE support and guidance for Project/Construction work, reviewing appropriate documentation (WPP/CPP/RAMS), providing onsite support and advice as appropriate.
Having the following experience would be useful in the role
- Experience of working in a health, safety and environment role or in a safety critical role.
- Experience of operating in a highly-regulated environment, such as the rail network.
- Experience of audit methodology with familiarity of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.
- Experience of operating across a multi-site organisation across a variety of environments.
- Experience of CDM Regulations and of working in a construction environment
