POSITION SUMMARY

The Shop Assistant is responsible for assisting the Shop Mechanic in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment within the shop. Working alongside the Mechanic, the Shop Assistant will help perform maintenance and repair to equipment used on site and help with special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the safe operation of tools
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to stand, lift 50lbs, carry, bend, reach

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles (snowmobiles, tractors, ATV’s, snow groomers, etc) with the assistance of Mechanic
  • Document all service and repair information and generate work orders where necessary
  • Testing repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or repairs in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
  • Managing inventory of tools and equipment within the shop
  • Cleaning, lubricating and performing other maintenance work
  • Adherence to all workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
