Position: Project based / Full-Time / Local Candidate preferred
Work Schedule: 5 on and 2 off working 8 hours per day
Reporting to: Director, HSE
Hourly wage: $60.00-$65.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS
- OH&S diploma or equivalent, CRSP would be considered an asset with at least three (3) years construction industry experience leading a team.
- Minimum five (5) years as NCSO with relevant experience.
- Current Class 5 Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract.
- Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol test is required.
- WHMIS 2015 and CSTS 2020
- Certifications required for the work being performed (Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, and Confined Space Entry & Monitor, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Expertise in software relevant to the role will be considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of investigation techniques (i.e., Taproot)
- Basic auditing techniques (i.e., Core / ISO)
- Effective oral and written communication skills and good comprehension.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, driving, and sitting.
Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
The HSSE Lead is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Company HSSE Program, Site Specific HSSE Plans and Owner initiatives at the LNGC Site in Kitimat, BC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
- Supports and helps develop all HSE Advisors to the point of competency and marketability by ensuring that all training and development plans are in place and being executed.
- Leads corporate safety initiatives by positive example.
- Demonstrates ownership and leadership by actively participating in all phases (inspections, audits, assessments, tours, etc.) of the HSE management plan.
- Prepares contract-specific Hazard Assessment and safety execution plans in compliance with client requirements.
- Aids in all pre-contract, tender assessment, and contract administration for projects in relation to HSE requirements and expectations.
- Approves sub-contractor’s Safety Management Plans and Safe Operating Procedures before work commences when required.
- Monitors key safety performance indicators on various active job sites.
- Ensures reporting of performance measures by sub-ordinates on a weekly basis.
- Ensures inclusion of OH&S legislation in preparation of Project Execution Plans, Definition of Objectives and Project kick-off.
- Follows-up on corrective actions from high potential incident investigations.
- Works with the Director, HSE on all hiring for HSE positions.
- Ensures that HSE Advisors are up to speed with their roles as HSE competency champions.
- Maintains current knowledge and copy relevant OH&S acts and regulations and provide guidance to project team on the same.
- Liaises with clients, other OH&S professionals and regulatory authorities.
- Aids in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Helps to develop and implement and train on Waiward’s safe work practice and procedures.
