There’s No Us Without U. Care with Us, for Today and Tomorrow
There’s no life without water, and at Urban Utilities, we live and breathe that knowledge every single day. It’s why our people are so passionate about what they do and how they do it. And it’s why we need people like YOU. Come shape our future with us and make a real and lasting impact across our teams.
Your Opportunity:
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing team are trusted advisors and subject matter experts providing governance, systems and support which enable and empower our people. We are currently on a mission to make Urban Utilities the leader in safety amongst our fellow industry peers and we are seeking a passionate Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to support the business on this journey.

You will join a team that offers real work life balance, use of a company vehicle for site visits, a mix of site, office and work from home (as required), and the opportunity to access a range of benefits. However, the best part is the direct and clear support from the CEO and Executive towards safety. Key accountabilities will include:

  • Following the organisation’s HS&W policies, procedures and mandatory instructions, to identify and mitigate health and safety risks in the workplace.
  • Taking appropriate action to resolve health and safety risks, escalating safety related concerns appropriately to the HSW Enabling Partner or appropriate stakeholder.
  • Investigating standard and non-routine incidents and reports providing coaching and safety related advice to the business
  • Conducting first tier inspections, risk assessments and safety assurance activities
  • Coordinating with internal functions to facilitate effective implementation of compliance programs to minimise risk exposures and ensure adherence with regulatory standards.
  • Coach, guide and support our people and frontline leaders on safety procedures and protocols, empowering them to take ownership and improve safety outcomes.
  • Work within flexible working hours to support 24/7 operations when duties are specified and required including but not limited to emergency and incident management response.

About You:

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • A genuine drive, motivation and passion for safety and being part of a broader team working towards a common goal
  • The ability to build relationships working with supervisors and front-line workers to influence and coach HSW operational performance outcomes,
  • Previous experience working in a similar Advisor role highly regarded, but this role would also be open to recent graduates from the industry,
  • Experience or understanding in developing, implementing and maintaining WHS systems with a preference for ISO 450001,
  • Diploma or Degree level qualification in Occupational / Work Safety and Health,
  • Well-developed computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft office suite.

At UU, we celebrate diversity. We genuinely believe that bringing together diversity of thoughts, perspectives and expressions is key and crucial to our success as a business. You might find you meet some, but not all, of the job requirements for this role.
