Description:
The Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience is seeking to appoint a self-motivated and enthusiastic person to join our friendly Human Anatomy Centre team. The facility delivers first and second year anatomy and neuroanatomy courses to an intake of around 320 pre-clinical medical students each year, and supports both research projects and external courses for a wide range of medical professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for an interesting and varied technical and administrative role within a busy teaching environment.
Reporting to the Human Anatomy Centre Manager, and joining a team of four other professional services staff, the role holder will provide technical support to help ensure the smooth running of the Centre. Duties will be diverse and will primarily include providing administrative support to the Teaching and Bequeathal Office and technical support to the Dissecting Room. A further and important part of the role will be to assist with the implementation, audit and maintenance of Human Tissue Authority Standards within the Centre. For the right person there will be the flexibility to tailor aspects of the post to the role-holder’s strengths and interests, whether administrative or technical.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal professionally and efficiently with enquiries from students, colleagues and associated professionals, and will work well in a small and inclusive team. They will also be highly organised and have a flexible approach to work, with an ability to move between tasks at short notice to meet deadlines. Proficiency in the use of basic software packages (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) and the ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information is also essential.
We are seeking to appoint a full-time colleague, but may be willing to consider applicants interested in part-time and/or flexible roles, depending on their other commitments.
For informal enquiries please contact Dr Richard Lloyd, Human Anatomy Centre Manager rl643@cam.ac.uk.
