Function: The HR Associate performs some or all administrative duties to support the HR Department including: processing and maintaining: payroll, HRIS, benefit administration, onboarding new hires, and management of FMLA and Workers Comp. Also assists the human resource staff with employee benefits, wellness programs, personnel records, hiring, training, legal compliance and other HR support functions.

EMPLOYMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:

  • Be familiar with the bank’s HR policies and procedures to answer basic employee questions.
  • Suggest changes to policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Assist with updating job descriptions.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Payroll and/or benefit system experience preferred
  • PHR/SHRM certified or ability to become certified
    Must have the ability to read/see documents and PC screens, to communicate in person and via the telephone, and to use a PC extensively; the ability to speak, see, hear and write are necessary for the work and communication that are integral to the position. Requires the use of eyes, hands, and fingers at the same time to operate an adding machine, calculator, and/or personal computer. Majority of time is spent seated at a desk or computer station but some time is spent standing or walking to other locations on the Damariscotta ‘campus’
