POSITION OVERVIEW:

As our HR Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our team and enhancing the lives of our patients. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to find, recruit, and inspire a team of exceptional caregivers and support staff. Your goal? To empower our amazing team to deliver top-notch, compassionate care that transforms lives.

ABOUT US:

Since our founding in 2011, we’ve been on a mission to provide outstanding home care that makes a real difference. With a track record of enhancing the well-being of thousands of patients, we’re committed to building and supporting a team of dedicated, kindhearted caregivers and healthcare professionals. We believe in nurturing our team so they can give their best to those who depend on us.
We are currently delivering over 2,600 hours of home care every week to about 300 clients through 125 caregivers under the coordination of 12 full-time office staff. This is about double from a year ago. We need a professional HR Manager to help us continue our growth by developing and nurturing a team of compassionate and competent caregivers on the front line of care championed by a supportive back office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalence in training; HR certification.
  • Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role, preferably within the healthcare or home care industry.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures and trends in the industry.
  • Knowledge of provincial employment standards and legislation across the country.
  • CHRP is required.
  • Ability to exercise judgment/seek advice in decision making when faced with uncertainties; ability to anticipate what will be needed, identify issues and options for solutions.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Tactful, mature individual with demonstrated ability to use discretion, good judgment, tact and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive/confidential issues with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Bilingual is considered an asset, but not required

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Staffing:
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for various positions within the agency.
  • Manage the hiring process from job postings and screening to interviewing and onboarding.
  • Partners with the care team to facilitate timely hiring and quality hires.
  • Employee Relations:
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and grievances.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and mediate disputes to maintain a harmonious workplace.
  • Implement and oversee employee recognition and engagement programs.
  • Proactively maintains a positive work environment.
  • Builds trust and credibility with employees to create and reinforce a safe, supportive and open environment.
  • Compliance & Policy Management:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Training & Development:
  • Coordinate and manage employee training programs, including onboarding and professional development.
  • Provides support to new and existing employees.
  • Identify training needs and to develop and deliver relevant training sessions.
  • Performance Management:
  • Leads the annual performance review process including package preparation, timelines, staff communication, manager and staff training.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans as necessary.
  • HR Administration:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Manage HR-related documentation, including employment contracts, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.
  • Prepares letters as needed for new hires, compensation changes, promotions, disciplinary matters, terminations and employment verification letters.
  • Conducts exit interviews, identifies key issues and trends and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Assists in the development of KPIs, implementation and continuous improvements of HR initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Counsels, provides guidance and support to management and staff on human resources policies, procedures, standards and legislation, workplace health and safety, and organizational requirements.
