Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Administrative Assistant to join our team at our Corporate Office in Winnipeg.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize, maintain, and update internal databases with digital personnel records of relevant employee information including training for Health and Safety
  • Support new employee onboarding, prepare offer documentation, and conduct orientation sessions
  • Schedule job interviews, contact, screen, and shortlist candidates as needed
  • Assist recruitment with reviewing resumes, cold sourcing candidates, performing phone screens and scheduling interviews
  • Prepare correspondence, arrange meetings, and process confidential reports and documents
  • Maintain/support personnel files (electronic & paper) and ensure compliance with record keeping regulations.
  • Interact with managers and heads of various departments to disseminate information
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources and Health and Safety team to enhance and streamline processes and practices.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee issues
  • May participate in job fairs and in-house recruitment events
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Require:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Human Resources or a combination of education and experience is required (CPHR candidacy or working towards an asset)
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of Human Resources related experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment and talent acquisition (sourcing, screening and interviewing) preferred
  • Well rounded comprehension of Human Resources principles, practices, employment standards, human rights, WCB and WSIB regulations an asset.
  • Previous experience with HRIS, applicant tracking software, social media etc. an asset
  • Friendly and approachable - ability to build strong working relationships
  • Excellent phone mannerisms and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Works with a sense of urgency, is well organized and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking inside the branch
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms as well as climb stairs in FGI facilities
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds from floor to waist
