This is a fully on-site role.
The Vancouver Public Library is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Administrative Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the HR department by handling a variety of administrative tasks, including recruitment and selection support, coordinating induction training, minute-taking, drafting and editing documents and spreadsheets, scheduling meetings, maintaining HRIS, providing reception services, answering general HR-related queries, and performing other related duties as needed. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong multitasking abilities, and the capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. It is also essential for the candidate to have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new computer programs.

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of a diploma or certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant subject area, such as Human Resources or Business Administration.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of experience in an administrative assistant role.
  • Experience in a Human Resources department in a unionized workplace would be an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail; independent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities in high-volume environment.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.

    Employment Type: Regular Full-Time
    Salary: $56,567 to $70,714 per year
    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
