Description:
MAKE A REAL IMPACT
Bevan Brittan is a leading commercial law firm. Alongside our recognised expertise in housing, local government, and health and social care, we are specialists in the construction, energy and resource management, higher education and financial services sectors.
Supported by our valued business services professionals, our award-winning and growing legal teams provide almost 2,000 organisations with commercial, corporate, property, finance, regulatory, employment and litigation (commercial and clinical negligence) legal and advisory services.
As a responsible business, we embrace four values: Relationships, Reputation, Responsible and Results. These give us a sense of purpose. They influence the decisions we make and how we work with each other. Importantly, they motivate us to deliver meaningful outcomes for our clients and the communities that we’re part of.
Consistently recognised as one of The Times Best Law Firms and highly ranked across the legal directories, we are proud of our hard-earned reputation. Our 2023/24 financial results confirmed both revenue and profit growth for an eleventh consecutive year, ensuring our ability to continue investing in our people.
Looking to the future, we’re targeting ambitious growth and success. And we’re looking for the best people to be part of it.
Join a team of experts and progressive thinkers
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our growing HR team. If successful, you will work closely within the HR generalist team and support other key areas of the function from Learning & Development to Recruitment. This is a fantastic learning opportunity and you will support the team with all administrative duties. This includes playing a key role in coordinating the on-boarding process, assisting with interesting projects and supporting our Responsible Business Programme, which encompasses Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Wellbeing, Community Engagement and Environmental Sustainability.
The role will be based in our newly refurbished Bristol office, located just a short walk from Cabot Circus, Castle Park and Bristol Harbourside. We work in an agile/hybrid way, providing staff with the equipment needed to work effectively from home, with most people in our team attending the office one or two days per week (sometimes to take advantage of Bevan Brittan’s regular social events!).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive and efficient administrative support across a range of HR activities.
- Work closely with the Recruitment team to coordinate and ensure an efficient on-boarding process. This includes carrying out DBS/ Right to Work checks, obtaining references, processing relevant new joiner documents and planning inductions.
- Answer queries in the HR team inbox, escalating when necessary to more senior members of the team.
- Input data accurately into our HR system and produce ad-hoc data reports as required.
- Processing of benefits such as private medical insurance, cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans and childcare vouchers.
- Assist with the administration of HR processes for example, family leave, contractual changes and leavers.
- Work together with the team to help identify and implement process improvements.
- Provide administrative support on key HR projects and cyclical processes such as the annual salary review and appraisal process.
- Work with other members of the team to maintain an efficient, accurate electronic filing and archiving system that complies with GDPR requirements.
- Other administrative support as needed, e.g. arranging ad-hoc meetings and appointments.
What we are looking for from you
The ideal candidate will have:
- Administration experience, ideally within a professional services environment. Previous HR experience is desirable, but not essential.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with technical knowledge of formatting documents.
- Organised approach with the ability to multitask and prioritise own workload effectively.
- Able to coordinate with other members of the HR team to ensure that all tasks are completed on time.
- Quality and customer service driven, with a concern for accuracy and an eye for detail
- Team oriented and collaborative with a flexible approach.
- Confident verbal and written communication skills
Work with approachable people
When we ask colleagues what makes Bevan Brittan a great place to work, the most popular thing they say is “the people”. The overwhelming consensus is that we make time for each other. We welcome questions and support each other. Naturally, we look for new colleagues who align with our values.
