The West Vancouver Human Resources & Payroll Division is currently seeking a temporary full-time Human Resources Advisor, Disability Management, to join our highly qualified team. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating complex and comprehensive case management plans for ill/injured employees with the goal of a return to work;
- Providing disability management expertise through consultation and support to employees and managers;
- Ensuring that practices are consistent and comply with legislation, collective agreements, administrative regulations, policies and procedures;
- Acting as the District’s primary contact with case managers, rehabilitation specialists, and other representatives of the Workers Compensation Board (WorkSafeBC), and coordinating claims management and rehabilitation services;
- Investigating and reporting workplace accidents in conjunction with the Occupational Health & Safety Specialist, collaborating with WorkSafeBC during the management of WSBC incidents and time loss claims;
- Effectively communicating with employees, managers, union representatives, and external contacts in a manner that builds trust, credibility and rapport;
- Pro-actively collaborating with colleagues within the Human Resources & Payroll Services division;
- Acting as a resource on health, safety, attendance, and wellness issues;
- Managing, maintaining and reporting on key metrics; and
- Participating in other duties and special projects as assigned.
The preferred candidate understands and adheres to collective agreements, relevant legislation and HR Policies, and will possess: a Degree/diploma in Business, Human Resources, or other professional training with a focus on Disability Management, Human Resources, and OH&S; 3+ years of progressively more responsible Disability Management experience, preferably in a complex, multi-union environment and/or insurance STD/LTD claims industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a hands-on role for an experienced, enthusiastic self-starter with a passion for disability case management, and interest and/or experience in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations. Advanced knowledge of case management principles, relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines and best practices. Knowledge of non-occupational disability management practice and WorkSafeBC claims adjudication process.
The successful candidate is required to supply a Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials. A personal vehicle and a valid BC Driver’s License are required.
Position Status: Exempt - Temporary Full-Time
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Rate of Pay: $102,200 - $115,000 per year (2024 rates)
