Description:

Human Resources and Recruiting Specialist
Kansas City, MO. The HR & Recruiting Specialist is a member of the Human Resources team reporting to the HR Director. Plans, develops, and implements proactive recruitment strategies in alignment with Rose Brooks Center’s equity and inclusion initiatives to hire and retain the best talent for Rose Brooks Center. Works closely with HR Director and Supervisors to ensure search files, EEOC documentation and tracking standards are met. Assists with the development and coordination of hiring and recruiting communications. This role manages and oversees recruitment and selection; all new hire processing activities; advertising; job descriptions; new hire orientations; processing worker’s compensation incidents and claims; processing FMLA paperwork and tracking; and general HR duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/human resources/related field and/or commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in recruiting and hiring, preferably in a non-profit agency, and/or commensurate experience.
  • Experience in developing and administering an effective recruitment and hiring process to help ensure a qualified, diverse candidate pool.
  • Proven experience providing effective consultation to hiring managers.
  • An organized self-starter with ability to work autonomously, take initiative, skillful at prioritizing, juggling multiple demands simultaneously, managing complex assignments where independent action and high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems, and developing recommendations.
  • Have a kind presence, strong work ethic, and must be able to deal with high volume workload. Must be an assertive, resourceful, motivated, team player with strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills. Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness, and ability to work effectively with a minimum amount of direction. They will be able to learn quickly, remain calm in stressful situations, and speak clearly over all forms of electronic media (phone, video interviews, AI, etc.)
  • Perform all job responsibilities while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center and according to agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate respect for equity and inclusion.
  • Perform all job responsibilities utilizing the principles of trauma informed care, accessibility, equity and inclusion.
  • Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.
  • Provide proper information, resources, and guidance to staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct screening and interviewing using behavioral-based interviewing skills.
  • Knowledge of basic compensation and benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, including EEOC and affirmative action.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, including high level of responsiveness.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Able to work independently and function as an effective team member.
  • Proven organizational skills, effective time management and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems, payroll software, and other software.
  • Knowledgeable of various recruitment sources and posting avenues preferred (i.e. social media).
  • Provide a valid driver’s license and car insurance with an ability to meet Rose Brooks Center’s driving requirements for the job position.
