GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a Senior Human Resources Advisor, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant supports the
organization by providing administrative and human resources support in the areas of staffing and recruitment,
onboarding and exiting, training, labour relations, health and safety and other HR initiatives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
- Thorough knowledge of business English.
- Possess superior organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple duties simultaneously with deadlines.
- Advanced computer word processing skills and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel and
Outlook.
- Proficient typing skills.
- Ability to understand when information is confidential, and maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to take and transcribe minutes and summarize discussions.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, policies and practices that govern employment in the Province of British
Columbia and familiarity with collective agreements.
- Knowledge of BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Ability to conduct research relative to a variety of human resources related matters.
- Ability to make effective decision within the scope of the role.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
REQUIRED TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bondable
- Minimum of two years of related experience working in an administrative capacity in Human Resources
- Experience working in local government and/or a unionized environment is an asset
- Degree in Human Resources, Business or related fields from an accredited institution
OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience
