DESCRIPTION

The Human Resource Assistant is responsible for working closely with all members of the HR team on various assignments and tasks related to benefits, documentation management, recruitment, metrics and tracking, and responds to general inquiries from hiring managers, employees and general applicants.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience or education.
  • Possess strong computer skills: Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Viewpoint knowledge is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Human Resource Certificate or education is an asset.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved.
  • Provide first-level assistance to Michels employees for routine and general human resource questions and inquiries.
  • Develop general reports and information on human resource activities as requested.
  • Assist in the creation, completion and maintenance of employee files.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and diplomacy.
  • Prepare, standardize, and maintain templates and forms (including but not limited to job postings, job descriptions, and offer letters).
  • Review employment applications and status updates and send prescreen candidates to Recruitment.
  • Stay current on applicable federal and provincial labour and employment laws related to the company.
  • Support administering of benefits programs and information.
  • Support the recruitment team with offer letter creation, peer reviews and coordinating new hires for projects.
