JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Eberly College of Science, Human Resources Office at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support the daily management of HR operations in the College. The successful candidate will respond to inquiries concerning human resources issues, assist with interpreting policies/procedures, assist with coordinating human resources functions and approve payroll transactions. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the college’s Human Resources Office and team’s needs. To include, but not limited to:
- Initiate and/or respond to inquiries concerning human resources issues such as communications, staffing, benefits, work schedules, flexible work arrangements, pay discrepancies, etc.
- Interpret policies and procedures; research issues obtaining information from higher-level human resources staff and/or referring as appropriate.
- Assist in the coordination of human resources functions within unit such as performance evaluation, staffing, training, etc. Distribute annual Values, Ethics and Compliance training emails and reminders, monitoring progress.
- Approve human resources/payroll transactions within Workday (leaves, pay increase, job requisitions, contingent worker forms, etc.) Distributing reminders to managers regarding I-9 compliance/reverifications, on-boarding, clearance audits, transfer/separation checklists, etc.
- Auditing and data clean up within the Workday system. To include supervisory organization and position clean-up as assigned.
- May create reports and analyze employee data.
- Track departures for staff employees and administer exit surveys.
- Act as liaison between employees or departments and the Office of Human Resources; Distribution of “HR News to Knows” to impacted groups of employees as necessary.
- Assist with faculty affairs processes. May include faculty activity reports, sabbaticals, as well as promotions and/or tenure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
This position minimally requires a high school diploma/GED or vocational training/degree plus 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong time management skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
