PROGRAM SUMMARY

Human Services Agency’s Headquarters office located in Washington, DC seeks an innovative, detail oriented, and organized Human Resources Assistant. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with diverse staff and external stakeholders, work independently, and practice discretion when handling sensitive information.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department.
  • Explain company policies and procedures to staff.
  • Maintain employee data in Human Resources Information System and create ad hoc reports.
  • Manage on-boarding and off-boarding processes.
  • Facilitate new hire orientations.
  • Maintain all human resources related electronic and paper files.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of employee personnel files.
  • Manage the recruitment process (i.e., advertising positions, reference checks, offer packages, etc.).
  • Schedule interviews and other meetings.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments.
  • Review benefit invoices for accuracy.
  • Provide front desk services as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalency with 1 or more years of human resources experience.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business management, or other related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Human Resources Information Systems. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Strong word processing skills preferred.
  • Ability to use policies/procedures to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and public relations skills.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office 365.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer);
  • Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to position self to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must have ability to navigate stairwells.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees/customers/clients; and must be able to exchange accurate information by perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information.
  • Frequently move files weighing up to 20 pounds throughout the office space.
  • Must be able to participate in fire drills or other drills in an emergency
