Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Administer and coordinate the Human Resources component of the orientation/onboarding of new staff by documenting employment, conducting induction interviews, obtaining required personal information and supporting legal documents, explaining and providing information on salary, benefits, pension, tax implications, and merit pay
- Prepare, document, and provide information and guidance to all employees with respect to leaves of absence and Long Term Income Protection and ensure compliance with legislation (e.g. Employment Insurance Act, OHRC), Collective Agreements and Waypoint’s policies and procedures. Advise employees of the benefits and pension implications due to leaves of absence.
- Work in collaboration with Financial Services and Staffing Services regarding salary administration (e.g. merit increases), employee movement (e.g. transfers, terminations, leaves of absence) and resolving discrepancies and errors.
- Maintain and improve human resources processes by ensuring legislative compliance, monitoring outcomes, seeking feedback from stakeholders and recommending improvements and implementing changes as necessary.
- Plan and present information sessions by coordinating with internal and external sources. Develop employee communication plan to promote sessions, increase awareness and understanding of the topic (e.g. retirement), and encourage attendance and participation.
- Supports the HR Generalist/HR Business Partners with LR tasks (investigations, accommodations, discipline tracking, grievance Management) as required.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education at the Bachelor’s degree level in a related field such as Human Resources, Business, Psychology/Mental Health or Health Care/Public Administration
- Specialized training/education in the Human Resources Management function
- 1-2 years working experience preferably in Human Resources
- Experience within the healthcare sector, or a unionized environment, with a strong understanding of human resources/talent management best practices is considered an asset
- Experience with compensation and benefit plans including pension, benefit and pay administration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal, planning/organizing and analytical skills
- Ability to proactively identify issues and work towards a solution
- Ability to adjust to shifting priorities with ease and resiliency
- Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); as well as social media tools and SEO techniques
- Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
