Description:

Human Resources Assistant
Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Manager this position provides project, administrative, and office support for the Human Resources (HR) department. The primary function of this position is records maintenance but will also perform duties such as assisting with recruitment, onboarding, screening calls, resolving issues when able, and working on special Human Resources projects. Also, assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload, recommending changes in office practices or procedures.

The primary function of this position is records maintenance but will also perform duties such as assisting with recruitment, onboarding, screening calls, and resolving issues when able and working on special Human Resources projects.

  • Takes messages or fields/answers all routine and non-routine questions.
  • Drafts written responses or replies by phone or email when necessary.
  • Assist with HR administration, including but not limited to onboarding, background checks, compliance, recruiting and orientation.
  • Handles confidential and non-routine information, explains procedures when necessary.
  • Creates, maintains and updates filing systems for employee records and training files.
  • Ensures that all communication takes place in a professional manner, reflecting dignity and respect for persons served.
  • Regularly checks email and other forms of electronic messaging and respond to communications within 48 hours or immediately in urgent/time sensitive situations.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management software, human resources information systems (HRIS), and similar computer applications.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Prior related office experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 points at times.
