The Opportunity.
Smart & Biggar is currently looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our HR team for 14 months. In this role, you will play a key role in providing strategic HR guidance and leading the HR cycle activities for a diverse population of employees located throughout Canada.
Responsibilities.
- Lead and manage national HR initiatives and program development
- Oversee performance management for assigned employee population, including talent identification, career development planning, and performance improvement
- Collaborate on the annual compensation review process, including market research, analysis, and communication of proposed adjustments to People Leaders
- Collaborate with internal clients to develop plans addressing current and future HR resource needs
- Provide expert advice and coaching to Managers and People Leaders on employee relations matters
- Work with the Talent Acquisition team and broader HR department to identify hiring needs, fill vacancies efficiently, and ensure effective onboarding and integration of new hires
- Collaborate with the national HR team to implement and execute HR strategies
- Prepare and analyze reports on relevant employee data as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Human Resources
Qualifications, competencies, and experience.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
- 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in an advisory role
- Demonstrated ability to lead HR initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization
- Professional HR designation is considered an asset
- Expertise in performance management, talent development, and compensation strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and build relationships
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex employee relations issues and make sound decisions using the appropriate policies and legislation
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs
