Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of Firestone Walker. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.
Responsibilities:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Create and update job descriptions
- Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and adjust as needed
- Assist in screening candidates and provide guidance on hiring procedures to the hiring manager
- Conduct new hire orientation and process new hires in HRIS for respective business units
- Develop employment terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers
- Lead separation meetings and process employee terminations
- Consult with management on compliance with company policies and legal requirements and provides guidance when appropriate
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Develop people strategies and design approaches for diagnosing and enhancing organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction
- Educate employees on compensation practices, including compensation, performance feedback, performance calibration, and career transitions
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and effective investigations
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
- Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs
- Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance; partners with the legal department as needed/required
- Assist with completing end of pay period timecard review and pre-processing payroll review
- Collaborate with the HR team to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results
- Assist with coordination of the Culturvation program and related employee appreciation activities
- Other related duties as assigned
- Minimum of 2 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
- High attention to detail, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations affecting human resource functions and ability to apply to business policies and practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of health insurance and benefit regulations, plan designs and record keeping requirements. Ability to maintain confidentiality and ability to effectively handle sensitive matters.
- Ability to train and effectively present information to management and employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict through discussions.
- Ability to operate and use a PC computer, proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs. Working knowledge of and ability to use HR systems.
