Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resources Generalist Provides comprehensive administrative support to the HR department. The HR Coordinator will assist with implementation of HR Programs and initiatives, and contribute to the attainment of specific goals of the HR Office and of the College. This position may be assigned special projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree and/or equivalent experience required;
  • A minimum of two years of office work experience required. Two years of work experience in human resources desired;
  • Must have good attendance and be reliable;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of customers required;
  • Must have strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, and the ability to meet deadlines for time sensitive assignments;
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality; ability to handle sensitive material concerning the organization.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications skills with the ability to handle conflict and employee complaints. Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills;
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities; and
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, and Power Point required. Knowledge of Colleague software highly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides employee assistance and information for a wide variety of human resources issues to include payroll, benefits, and policy;
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions in person, by phone, or by email.
  • Provides administrative assistance to the Chief Human Resources Officer
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and collect new hire paperwork
  • Assists with preparation of newsletters and other campus-wide correspondences
  • Organize and maintain employee personnel files and information.
  • Prepare photocopies, fax documents and perform other clerical functions.
  • Process mail for the department;
  • Create, maintain, and store human resources records;
  • Create various reports and documents to provide current personnel information;
  • Actively work with staff in maintaining a positive employee relations climate;
  • Assist in processing employment verifications and reference checks
  • Order and maintain an adequate inventory of office equipment and supplies;
  • Answer main telephone line; and
  • Perform computer data entry and electronic file maintenance
