Description:

SUMMARY

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for supporting human resource-related activities such as faculty and staff recruitment, background screenings, employment offers, employment verifications, offboarding, and exit interviews. Advise others on human resources topics and operational matters.
Assists with the accounting and recording of payroll, benefits (e.g., health, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement, health savings accounts), and other human resource-related costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Conducts tasks required to assist in the administration and the implementation of activities and functions, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning and management, communications, compensation, benefits, performance, training and development, complaints, investigations, leave management, disciplinary matters, offboarding, policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory compliance.
Provides recruiting support for a wide range of university functions. Serves as a consultative resource to hiring managers to understand the skills and competencies required for open positions and desired candidates. Handles inquiries from applicants. This position is critical in verifying benefit amounts associated with employees and related vendors.
Responsible for recruiting, onboarding, hiring processes, and other related activities for the work-study program. Identifies and recommends updates to operating procedures within human resources. Assists with developing, coordinating, and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow. Helps with event planning. Works on special projects. Presents training sessions related to the scope of responsibilities.
Assists with audit preparations by providing records and documentation.
Maintains current and archived records accordingly, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entries.
Maintains overall awareness and remains current on regulatory changes and employment laws that may affect the university.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree is required (e.g.: business administration, finance, human resources, or a related field). Relevant work and/or office experience preferred. Knowledge of university policies and procedures preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of stakeholders or employees of the university.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software, spreadsheet software and word processing software, etc.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic spreadsheet understanding and basic accounting.
