JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and work closely with the Human Resources and management team across all sites. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, recruitment/employment, employment law compliance, health and safety, and workers’ compensation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education required; diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a Human Resources environment; experience in the produce/agriculture industry preferred.
  • One to two (1-2) years’ experience in manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee certificate preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience in labour and employment laws affecting human resources management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must be able to handle sensitive issues with tact and maintain strict confidentiality of private information and have a commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment with individuals of all leadership styles, personalities, and career levels.
  • Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary; persuasive with details and facts; ability to motivate and empower with a forward-thinking nature

EDUCATION

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or better in Human Resource Administration
  • Associate’s degree or better in Human Resource Administration

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and administration of various human resource plans and procedures
  • Administer the performance evaluation program; update and maintain wage/salary adjustments
  • Perform benefits administration; including claims resolution, change reporting and communicate benefits information to employees
  • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes for exempt and non-exempt personnel
  • Confer with HR and/or hiring managers to identify staffing needs
  • Effectively interview candidates and extend job offers
  • Manage the job offer process including negotiation and administration
  • Administer appropriate company assessments including reference and background checks
  • Track metrics for all recruiting activities
  • Conduct employee onboarding and assist with training and development
  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers on employee relation concerns and corrective counseling; manage and track employee corrective action
  • Provide support to employees in various HR related topics such as employee relations counseling and exit interviewing
  • Promote HR and Employee engagement programs to create an inclusive culture and conflict-free workplace
  • Administer and monitor workers’ compensation case files
  • Gather and analyze data; report HR metrics
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Special projects and group initiatives as assigned
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company
