ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Terra Archaeology Limited is a mid-size professional archaeological services company that operates throughout British Columbia. Terra has a diverse and growing client base including indigenous communities, federal and provincial government agencies, private sector corporations, and private landowners.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Terra is seeking a highly organized and focused individual to take on the coordination of our Human Resources program in a full-time capacity at our downtown Victoria office. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The ability for the HR Coordinator to build and maintain effective working relationships with management and employees is critical to the success of this position. The incumbent will also provide coaching, guidance, conflict resolution, and advice to both individual employees and members of the management team in the spirit of fostering a positive and healthy work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce, Professional HR certification or equivalent field
  • Minimum 2 years related human resources experience within a company of a minimum 25 employees
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Strong digital literacy, in particular the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong knowledge of Employment Standards Act, laws and legislation
  • Knowledge of BambooHR or similar HRIS an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist operational departments as an integral part of the team in the rollout and administration of all HR programs
  • Apply your knowledge of the B.C. Employment Standards Act (ESA) while acting as the first point of contact regarding HR-related inquiries
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations
  • Guide employees on the application of company policies
  • Participate in succession and development initiatives
  • Oversee performance management, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and employee development
  • Conduct training for staff members through group presentations and one on one mentoring
  • Maintain Terra’s HR-related manuals and company policies
  • Assist in the recruitment process, from job postings, scheduling interviews, phone screening, reference checks, offer letters, employee contracts, onboarding etc.
