The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T’exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Degree or diploma in human resources, personnel management, personnel administration, business administration or other related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum 3-5 years of human resource administration experience
    The Human Resources Coordinator completes clerical duties and provides administrative support to all WLFN employees. The incumbent will provide complex administrative and human resources support to the Director of HR including recruitment and retention, onboarding and orientation, maintain employee records, and employee engagement. This position is situated in a demanding environment which requires the highest level of tact, discretion, sensitivity and attention to detail.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of HR software programs (HRIS or HRMS) including BambooHR.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial labour and safety laws.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software at an advanced level.General office skills – typing speed of 75 wpm, filing, office machines, phone and email etiquette.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the recruitment of new staff including developing job descriptions and postings, screening calls, scheduling interviews, procuring space, coordinating candidate travel, developing interview questionnaires, collecting interviewer feedback, reference checks, and drafting offer letters.
  • Champion HRIS System (BambooHR). This includes ensuring the system is being utilized to its full potential, assisting staff to navigate the system, and troubleshooting.
  • Support employee onboarding and orientation, ensuring a positive employee experience.
  • Create business cards and email signatures and provides staff with technical support as required.
  • Attend WLFN functions and networking events on behalf of the Human Resources department.
  • Attend Human Resources events and conferences, including job fairs to promote the organization and recruit new employees.
  • Plan and organize employee engagement activities.
  • Arrange for in-house and external training activities for staff as required.
  • Ensure all employee personnel files are accurate and up to date.
  • Provide professional administrative support the Director of HR through proactive development and preparation of correspondence, presentations, reports, and type forms, letters, and memos as necessary.
  • Reconcile credit card expenses for the Director of HR.
  • Order and maintain promotional materials inventory.
  • Stay up to date and comply with changes in labour legislation.
  • Understand and comply with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Ensure timely response to questions from hiring managers, applicants, and new hires.
  • Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
  • Contributes to the WLFN’s ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
