Description:

Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Human Resources Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: The Human Resources Generalist coordinates and implements HR services, policies and program through Human Resources staff; reports directly to HR Manager and assists and advises company management about Human Resources issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Providing support and prioritization of work assignments and management of functional team resources of their activities as needed.
  • Leads the HR team in managing the day-to-day activities to support HR and other inter-related functions.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and system.
  • Supervise workers’ compensation claims.
  • Utilized HRIS System to track and update all associate information as needed.
  • Provide support to managers on employee-related issues.
  • Oversees the facilitation of quality on-boarding and new hire process.
  • Lead in providing recruitment support (as designated).
  • Work in conjunction with corporate recruiter in streamlining recruiting process to meet staffing needs.
  • Provide support in the areas of performance management including associate training and development (associate and supervisory levels), performance evaluations, coaching, career development plans, and disciplinary practices.
  • Assist in the maintenance of employee handbook, job descriptions, and policies and procedures.
  • Keep current with all legal aspects of human resources, assisting the organization with wage and hour law compliance, FLSA, ERISA, ADA, HIPAA, OSHA and FMLA-based items.
  • Assist in fostering positive employee relations including development of team events, development of and participation in company sponsored activities, and assistance with rewards/recognition programs.
  • Assist with back up support of benefits, collaborating with Payroll & Benefits as directed.
  • Perform other special projects as assigned and lead in new account transitions.
  • Fosters and maintain positive professional relationships with related departments.
  • Responsible for cross training of all aspects of Human Resources.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training as Human Resources Generalist; or equivalent combination of
  • Expertise and knowledge of specific industry and job-related experience of educational requirements.
  • Experience necessary in key legal and operational aspects of the human resource environment; including performance management.
  • Excellent communication skills, including motivational techniques, presentations, conflict resolution experience, relationship building, coaching, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work primarily days, but flexible to evenings and weekends if the need should arise (to assist in supporting a 24/7 operation).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Work Environment. This job operates typically in a professional office environment. Work environment faced paced, high performing.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
