JOB SUMMARY

Under the leadership of the Senior Director of Human Resources the Assistant Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or equivalent
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
  • At least two years of human resource management experience required.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the Senior Director to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, procedures, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management for the agency.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to recommend changes in policy, practice, and resources to Senior Director of Human Resources.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Helps to ensure that all HR related information is entered and managed in the Agency-selected employee management software.
  • Develops and maintains an effective Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program.
  • Create job descriptions or review and edit job descriptions written by others as needed
  • Participate and partner with departmental leaders in administering progressive discipline procedures. Participate in meetings in which formal writeups, performance improvement plans, final warnings or terminations occur.
  • Participate as needed in new employee orientation and training
  • Train employees on Human Resources-related topics as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining training schedules
  • Performs other duties as required.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain Strict confidentiality and exhibit discretion at all times
  • Report all out-of-compliance or unsafe activities to supervisor
  • Other related duties may be assigned, as required
  • Act as the designee for the Senior Director of Human Resources when needed and appropriate
    Supervises: Human resources team. Including but not limited to assignment of work, design of work flow, and time management. Supervisees may include HR Specialist, HR Training Specialist, Recruiter, or other members of the HR Team as needed.
