Description:

MANDATE:

Reporting remotely to the Human Resources Director at the Montreal Head Office, the Human Resources (HR) Generalist will serve as the main HR contact for Delmar offices and warehouses in the Ontario and BC regions, encompassing 6 locations and approximately 216 employees. This role involves handling day-to-day HR matters related to both office and warehouse employees (non-unionized). Additionally, the candidate will collaborate with HR generalists based in Montreal to ensure consistent and effective HR practices across all regions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an HR Generalist, (warehouse environment experience an asset)
  • Experience at a third-party logistics company considered a strong asset
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and resume database management tools
  • Available to travel to the Head Office in Montreal when needed
  • Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) certification is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365Excellent English writing skills a strong asset

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment activities from beginning to end: drafting job postings, liaising with agencies as needed, screening applications, conducting interviews, reference/background checks, and presenting offers.
  • Coordinating the onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Providing guidance to managers on performance improvement and progressive discipline, up to and including employee terminations.
  • Assisting with the execution of the annual performance review and service awards process for the Ontario region.
  • Assisting with the development (writing) and implementation of HR policies and ensuring that all procedures are in compliance with appropriate laws/legislation.
  • Composing and sending HR communication memos.
  • Providing guidance and support to employees regarding leaves of absence (i.e., medical, LTD, etc.).
  • Managing HR-related reporting as required (WSIB, Critical Injury, and Workplace Accommodation requests).
  • Managing sensitive HR issues, including conducting workplace investigations.
  • Supporting warehouse management with Incident/Damage and Near Miss reports.
  • Coordinating JHSC inspections, facilitating meetings, maintaining minutes, and ensuring all health & safety issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Organizing in-house and external health and safety training, including First Aid, JHSC, etc.Actively participating in various HR projects for the offices and warehouses as they arise.
