POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a very personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
  • Assist HR department with staff and management education needs that align with organizational development and strategic plan.
  • Participate in credit union committees or groups.
  • Self-manage workload to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Participate in annual HR educational opportunities, travel may be required.
  • Must have a passion and desire to grow and learn within the Human Resources field.
  • Desire to learn and understand regulations concerning human resources.
  • Desire to learn about available credit union benefits and how they work.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and /or outside the organization generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information, which may require some discussion

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • One to three years of similar or related experience, experience with an HRIS preferred.
  • A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
  • Ability to use various forms of technology and software to effectively complete HR functions.
  • Possess strong listening and teamwork skills.
  • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred

  • 1 - 3 years: HRIS experience

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serve as primary payroll coordinator.
  • Manage information in UKG accurately, timely and consistently, including change in status requests.
  • Assist in administering benefit programs including: medical, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, unemployment, FSA, FMLA, COBRA and 401k.
  • Provide assistance with benefit enrollment process and answer questions pertaining to benefits.
  • Assist in HR Software implementation, updates, reporting and trouble shooting.
  • Assist leaders in preparing necessary employee relations, coaching and progressive discipline documents. Attend and participate in meetings as needed.
  • File and manage documentation, ensuring timely access and compliance with record retention schedule.
  • Available to answer general employee questions/concerns as requested.
  • Effectively communicate with employees, management, vendors, applicants, and others in person, by phone, letter and/or email.
  • Respond to HR Help requests on a timely basis.
  • Travel between branches/offices as needed

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver on the Credit Union’ Service Promises in every service situation.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including prep and post reporting.
  • Assist in employee terminations including exit interviews, preparing documents and reviewing separation checklist.
  • Update Employee Handbook to ensure accuracy
  • Perform audits on a regular basis and investigations as needed.
  • Provide operational support to HR team; including completion of reference checks, verification of employment, and responding to unemployment insurance agency correspondence.
  • Prepare and submit required reports; DOL, ACA, etc.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, schedule appointments and conduct research with accuracy and discretion.
  • Provide support for benefit administration.
  • Collaborate with other departments/teams.
  • Provide informed, professional interactions with diplomacy and tact.
  • Assist employees and Leaders with basic interpretation of HR policies and regulations.
  • Gather information to assist in making sound decisions that are in the best interest of the Credit Union, members and employee.
  • Badge Access; assign, update and delete when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
