Under broad supervision, provides HR support to business unit or corporate functional area which may include recruiting, selection, and staffing, employment and personnel documentation, job evaluation, compensation, and benefits. Acts as a liaison between departments/Companys, all levels of line and staff management, compensation and benefits department, legal counsel, and outside service providers. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience.
Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. The fleet has grown to include more than 30,500 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 27 repair locations servicing petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.

Reporting to the Director of HR - Shops, the Human Resources Generalist provides professional and responsive HR support to the Canadian team through expertise in payroll, full-cycle recruiting, attendance management, employee relations, systems, compliance, reporting, and labour relations. The shop network encompasses 500 employees at five locations across Canada, in addition to 30 employees at our corporate office.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems, databases, and related technology
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills to a variety of audiences
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll, labor law, and HR best practices
  • People-oriented and results-driven
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field is required
  • 8+ years minimum progressive experience in Human Resources in Canada
  • Travel 10% of the time, in the US and Canada
  • HR designation strongly preferred: CHRL or CHRP
  • Extensive experience with Workday
  • Extensive experience with ADP’s Workforce Now
  • Ability to work autonomously through the full-cycle recruitment process
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational capabilities and conflict management skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, Outlook
    Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law

Responsibilities:

  • Support employee relations, coaching, engagement, reviews, goals, development, and reward/recognition programs
  • Provide support and guidance to Shop HR Leads
  • Partner with the HR Director on any research, planning, and analysis phases of creating solutions to complex problems to ensure alignment and anticipation of HR needs within and across business units
  • Support the full cycle recruitment process
  • Manage compensation and benefits; assist with Payroll where necessary
  • Assist in the investigation of employee issues and bring to resolution
  • Ensure the Company’s HR-related compliance with provincial and federal regulations
  • Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently and updated/refreshed as necessary
  • Maintain HR systems, data, and processes
  • Report to management and provide decision supported by HR metrics
  • Respond to urgent matters that could occur outside of business hours
  • Other related duties as assigned
