Description:
We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our team as a Human Resources Generalist. This is a full-time position located either in the Truro, Nova Scotia or Fredericton, New Brunswick branch. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the President and is responsible for providing employment-related guidance to Management and employees in matters regarding employment best practices and Employment Standards. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a team of 80 employees located in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources plus 5 years of HR Generalist experience
- Knowledge of labour laws and practices within the Atlantic provinces
- Able to maintain a high-level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (outlook, excel, word)
- Above average organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Valid Class 5 license with a clean driver’s abstract
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise management on policy interpretation as well as provincial Employment Standards
- Maintain and update human resources documents (policy manual, job descriptions, forms, etc.)
- Prepare written documentation including employment offer letters, disciplinary actions, and termination letters
- Prepare and maintain physical and electronic employee files
- Complete new hire orientations and related paperwork
- Manage benefits program including periodic reviews of Sansom Equipment benefits package and recommend changes
- Process bi-weekly payroll and terminations
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Acting member of JOHSC
- Travel to branch offices in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador a requirement.
