Christian Schools Australia (CSA) is the largest association of Christian schools in the country and has member schools educating over 86,000 students and employing over 13,500 staff at more than 200 locations across Australia. CSA member schools provide high quality education within an authentic Christian learning community.

CSA seeks a Human Resources Manager to provide guidance to schools regarding employment matters. The role involves:

  • Interpreting and providing guidance in relation to employment related legislation including the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), WHS Act, workers compensation, anti-discrimination, and general protections for Commonwealth and State/Territory jurisdictions.
  • Providing support, advice and coaching to school leaders in all employee relations activities including performance management, conduct and behaviour and grievances.
  • Assisting in enterprise agreement negotiations on behalf of schools, including applications to the Fair Work Commission.
  • Monitoring industrial instruments for the education sector.
  • Monitoring legislative changes and communicating compliance issues to member schools and the CSA Staff Relations Service.
  • Providing guidance and written communications to CSA member schools as required.
  • Cultivating relationships with key stakeholders internally and with member schools.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A strong Christian faith and well-grounded Christian worldview
  • An understanding of the Christian schooling sector. Previous experience in a Christian school would be highly-desirable.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a Business-related course.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in an HR focused role
  • Excellent problem-solving, partnering and advising skills
  • Current working knowledge of the industrial relations system at both Commonwealth and State/Territory levels
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret legislation and other industrial instruments.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and promote positive change
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and adapt to change in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to undertake some domestic travel
