KEY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- College or university diploma in Human Resources in Human Resources
- CHRP Designation (Preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of generalist experience in a human resources or related environment with strong Human Resource Administration experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Strong knowledge and understanding of HR best practices, employment laws and regulations (Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia)
- Experience in leading and managing HR projects and initiatives
- Strong ability to work on several priorities simultaneously and have a strong sense of organization and planning
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to drive decision-making
- Team spirit and autonomy
Location:
This is a hybrid role, with approximately 80% of the time working from the Campus Support Centre in Mississauga or a home office, and approximately 20% of the time working at different campuses and administrative offices.
Hours:
Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Relations:
- Provide pragmatic and consistent guidance and advice to managers on employee relations issues such as attendance, disciplinary and performance issues; responsible for conducting investigations where necessary.
- Raise proactive issues with managers, identify practical solutions to complex and diverse human resources issues, and recommend appropriate action plans.
- Work with employees to resolve a variety of human resources issues that may arise.
- Conduct exit interviews for all employees that resign, providing a synopsis to the People & Culture team for reporting.
- Prepare separation letters and provide guidance to managers on process.
Diversity Council:
- Lead and oversee the Diversity Council, driving the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to create and implement initiatives that foster an inclusive culture and promote diversity at all levels of the organization.
- Act as a liaison between the Diversity Council and senior leadership, ensuring effective communication and alignment of DEI goals.
Recruitment:
- Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, creating offer letters.
Compensation:
- Prepare employment contracts.
- Prepare confirmation of employment letters.
Performance Management:
- Ensure that quarterly and other reviews are carried out and maintain a tracking method to document completion.
- Prepare performance improvement plans where needed in consultation with managers and counsel on performance issues.
Benefits Administration:
- Act as the back-up benefits administrator.
- Schedule ergonomic assessments, partner with facilities for ordering of equipment.
Health & Safety:
Act as a back-up for WSIB claims process. Involving managers, collecting necessary information, submitting relevant forms, and acting as the point of contact for WSIB related claims.
Other duties as assigned, and which are in the best interests of the College.
