Position Title: Human Resources Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Position Reports to: HR Manager
Location: Kitchener

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the HR Generalist, your demonstrated experience with HR best practices and relevant legislation will positively impact our Transportation and Warehouse teams. Providing effective HR support to Operations leaders and employees, this position will work closely to support Recruitment, Employee Relations, and key employee engagement and recognition programs.

Providing effective HR support to Operations leaders and employees, this position will work closely to support Recruitment, Employee Relations, and key employee engagement and recognition programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline preferred.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working toward designation preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist or comparable role.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Ontario Employment Standards Act and all legislative requirements.
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices including but not limited to Employee and Labour Relations.
  • Strong decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Operations leaders and employees.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency communicating sensitive messages, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to coach employees and leaders through difficult situations, providing support through change.
  • Strong time-management skills, and ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong computer skills, and intermediate level skills using MS Office (Word, Excel).

UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work under pressure, and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Class G Driver’s license, and the ability to travel on occasion within Ontario.
  • Flexibility to support off-shift hours for meetings/activities when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver guidance and advice to leaders on legislative compliance and employee relations, policies and procedures, including performance management.
  • Provide recruitment support which may include posting jobs, screening and interviewing candidates, preparing job offers, and creating new hire packages.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new employees.
  • Collaborate with leaders and employees to provide guidance on internal policies and procedures.
  • Provide support for WSIB claims management, including safe Return To Work programs.
  • Support annual HR cyclical programs, including performance review process, compensation planning, benefits, etc.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Facilitate the employee recognition program, wellness program and other HR driven initiatives.
  • Provide assistance with the creation and distribution of company communications and programs, employee recognition programs and other HR driven initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects, company events, and other activities as required.
