SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Compliance Analyst is a member of the affiliated organization’s Human Resources team and manages the HR information systems for both Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York and its legal affiliate, St. John’s Residence for Boys. The HRIS and compliance analyst is responsible for partnering with colleagues in the Human Resources, Finance, Payroll and programs departments to translate business objectives and user needs into clearly documented technical requirements and to ensure organizational compliance.
The HRIS and Compliance Analyst maintains and updates all IT systems used for Human Resources purposes and is the final reviewer if all employee data entered into systems and databases by the HR team and consultants. The analyst partners with Payroll to clarify and improve business processes and to make process-related improvements in the HR and Payroll shared workflow. This position is also responsible for overseeing HR compliance, including internal and external audits and federal, state and local regulations.
This role reports to the Human Resources Director and works closely with other members of the HR, IT and Finance teams. This role partners with staff at several locations and works closely with external consultants and IT vendors.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and may be based out of the Brooklyn Flagship or Wading River offices or the St. John’s office in Rockaway Beach. The role requires occasional local travel within New York City and Long Island, including to the affiliated organization’s locations in Wading River, Queens and Brooklyn, and other business-related locations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, computer sciences or a related field
  • At least two years of experience working in HRIS/HR system support and/or compliance
  • Work experience with the HRIS used in the company (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP) is a plus
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment and understanding of the development lifecycle process

  • Experience managing software implementation projects
  • Experience with data analytics and database architecture
  • The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and patterns, and use that information to develop strategies for improvement

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource IS disciplines, such as time and attendance, benefits administration and performance management
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and exceptional listening skills

  • Ability to communicate in written and spoken format, to use IT tools and controls, including to make repetitive motions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with ADP
  • MS Excel Master certification
  • Human Resource Information Professional Certification (HRIP)
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRMSCP) credential
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based in Brooklyn, Queens or Wading River, and it requires some local travel to New York City and Long Island, including the affiliated organization’s locations in Queens, Brooklyn and Wading River, and other business-related locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate business objectives and user needs into clearly written technical requirements
  • Evaluate HR information systems, including ADP, to identify points of improvement
  • Manage HR IS projects to implement improvements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop technology solutions that help to streamline and automate HR processes
  • Maintain HR documentation, including employee files, to ensure the affiliated organization complies with all general labor laws and that employees are well educated about both internal policy and external legal compliance requirements
  • Implement process improvements and policy changes designed to improve efficiency, compliance and the user experience with the system
  • Serve as the go-to subject matter expert for ADP
  • Conduct data analyses and create customized reports as needed
  • Design, run and manage audit and other reports and produce needed documentation
  • Serve as a system administrator for HR systems, databases and applications
  • Maintain the Employee Handbook and manage revisions in alignment with local, state and federal regulations
  • Assess healthcare provider benefits and information and employee disclosures to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations
  • Ensure security, end-user access, and data integrity across all HR platforms
  • Work with HR, Finance, Payroll and IT to maintain and improve the HRIS, including configuration, end-user access, security and system efficiency and implement regulatory requirements
  • Support routine compliance training for staff and management
  • Assist management in investigating work-related illnesses, injuries and accidents and provide recommendations on corrective policy and actions, as well as procedural changes
  • Support critical system maintenance and operational tasks within the HRIS
  • Handle sensitive employee data in a respectful and discreet manner
