Description:

We are recruiting for a Human Resources Manager - Operations to join us here at Octavius.
We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
As the HR Manager (Operations), you’ll lead a team of People Services Advisors, ensuring the effective delivery of a full range of HR services that support our core business goals. Reporting to the Head of People Services, you’ll manage all aspects of employee relations, driving performance and compliance with HR policies. A key part of your role will be leading and developing your team, guiding them through daily HR operations while also spearheading strategic initiatives to support our wider organisational objectives.

YOU’LL BRING… (YOUR WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Proven experience in a managerial or leadership Human Resources / People Services role.
  • A strong track record of managing and developing a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee relations and Human Resources policy compliance.
  • Analytical skills to use HR data in driving strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts.
  • Experience in employment law.
  • Construction industry experience (nice to have).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of People Services Advisors to ensure high-quality HR support.
  • Drive the operational delivery of employee relations, ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Resolve complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
  • Collaborate with directors on compliance matters such as IR35 and immigration sponsorship.
  • Work closely with payroll and other support functions to deliver a seamless employee experience.
  • Analyse HR trends and data to implement change initiatives that align with business goals.
  • Oversee onboarding and retention strategies in partnership with the Learning & Development team.
  • Maintain up-to-date HR policies and ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Support organisational change initiatives and manage their impact on employees.
