DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the CEO, the Manager will be responsible for delivering on an array of HR programs including but not limited to, recruiting, on-boarding, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management and coaching and leadership development programs. The Human Resource Manager will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance alongside the implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. CPHR Designation certification is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR employment laws and best practices
  • 8+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • 5+ years in a management role
  • 3+ years of experience in labor relations and compliance
  • 2+ years of experience in compensation and employee benefit programs administration.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Self-starter and results oriented
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees and management
  • Ability to handle situations professionally with sensitivity, diplomacy and tact
  • Must be a team player with strong leadership skills
  • Ability to speak French an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Provides Human Resources consultation and coaching on a full range of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment & retention, succession planning, salary planning, performance management, corrective action, discipline and conflict resolution, facilitating change and transition
  • Extensive experience working across all Canadian provinces and territories, with a strong background in navigating and complying with each region’s regulations.
  • Manages and coaches HR team and acts as their escalation point as required
  • Guides and facilitates change in organizational culture and/or values consistent with business strategies.
  • Acts as an effective change agent that ensures positive employee experience during all transformational initiatives
  • Provides day-to-day support to Executives, Managers and Employees within the assigned client-group(s) on all HR related matters
  • Maintains knowledge of progressive HR practices and trends to drive departmental initiatives
  • Monitors Employment Legislative initiatives, anticipates the effects of impending legislation on the organization, and develops action plans for timely compliance.
  • Ensures proper compliance with all employment-related laws and regulations
  • Coaches business leaders on leadership behaviors and practices, employee communications, development and performance management strategies and tactics to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development
  • Identifies, gathers and provides requirements to help with the development of HR policies, programs and initiatives and participate in implementation
  • Provides leadership and direction to HR team, including hiring, performance management, coaching, development and management of all other employee related issues
  • Promotes Health and Safety by ensuring compliance in partnership with Lab Managers
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Leads Human Resources projects assigned by Management
  • Other duties as assigned
