Description:

The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan. CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.
The Canadian Light Source is currently recruiting for a Human Resources Projects Assistant (Summer Student) within the Human Resources Division. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Consultant, this position will be a full-time summer position starting on May 1st, 2025 and concluding on August 29th, 2025 or as discussed with the direct supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Participates in the development and implementation of specific HR projects aligned with FY2026 strategic tactics and operational goals. This may include projects such as:
  • Supporting various aspects of work related to the Out-of-Scope job evaluation system (e.g.facilitating and supporting supervisors in the review of job ratings for specific positions, updating job descriptions, and revising/enhancing the rating tool).
  • Supporting research, information gathering, and analysis to support the Collective Bargaining process
  • Assists in the provision of frontline administrative support for employee inquiries.
  • Assists with the administration, development, and revision of Human Resource policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Assists with the preparation of a variety of confidential documents, reports and correspondence within a variety of software programs; demonstrates tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Upper year Commerce student, majoring in Human Resources Management.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, specifically the Microsoft 365 and Office Suite.
  • Aptitude for data gathering, compiling results, and preparing summaries in various formats such as tables, charts, briefing documents, and one-pagers.
  • Strong organizational skills with an affinity for being detail-oriented
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the organization.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality relating to sensitive employee information.
    Remuneration: Hourly rate is dependent upon current year of study (1st Year: $17.30/hr., 2nd Year: $18.00/hr., 3rd Year: $19.00/hr., 4th Year: $20.00/hr., 5th year: $21.00/hr.)
