Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and Regulatory Services, this role is essential in fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with our organizational values. The successful candidate will support various HR functions for their assigned client group, including employee relations, training and development, benefits administration, and full-cycle recruitment. This position plays a key role in enhancing employee engagement, and advising on labour relations matters to support a thriving, inclusive environment. This role will contribute to our commitment to workplace safety by helping departments maintain a safe work environment and overseeing and administering our occupational health and safety programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, with CPHR designation or actively working towards it.
- A minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience in a public sector setting with a focus on labour relations, occupational health and safety, and administrative work.
- Prior experience in a multi-unionized environment.
- In-depth knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations, Labour Relations Code, Human Rights Legislation, and Employment Standards Act.
- Sound understanding of HR policies and practices, including recruitment, labour relations, policy development, and change management.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to support problem resolution effectively.
- Discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential information.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, managing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Resilience under pressure and adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling professional interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Labour Code, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, union representatives, and municipal officials.
