Description:
SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Service Specialist interacts regularly throughout the day with employees at all levels of the organization. Involvement and interaction with employees can be in a variety of formats and on a variety of topics. The Service Specialist provides assistance to all department staff and coordinates varied daily human resource tasks. This position manages payroll and handles miscellaneous benefits and other administrative tasks related to the human resources function. Additionally, the Service Specialist will assist with position posting and recruiting and may assist with pre-screening candidates.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- 1 year payroll processing experience
- 2 years administrative experience, preferably in a Human Resources office
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of HRM systems preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent people skills
- Advanced PC skills/abilities, including Microsoft office products.
- High level of maturity and ability to handle confidential information
- Strong and proven attention to detail
- Highly developed ability to manage time, tasks, deadlines and shifting priorities
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal directions.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll ensuring all payroll taxes are properly withheld and paid to all state and federal agencies.
- Manages the HRM administration and optimization to include performance management, open enrollment/benefit administration, compensation cycle administration, and annual policy administration.
- Coordinates and monitors applicant/new hire activities including resumes, applications, background and reference checks, and drug testing. May assist with recruiting and selection of talent and internship program.
- Manages the new hire, transfer, promotion and termination internal process for all employees. Updates all applicable systems. Conducts new employee orientation and ensures all new hire paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
- Acts as a primary point of contact with employees related to the HRM system, including troubleshooting, password resets, job changes, job postings, etc.
- Creates, manages and distributes routine reporting on job openings, new hires, departures, employee roster, turnover, overtime, bonusly and payroll reports. May manage the EEO-1 reporting requirements.
- Provides administrative support to the HR team to include event coordination, verifications of employment, and special projects/tasks as assigned.
- Maintains electronic personnel files including coordination of document retention process—active, on site, and offsite storage.
- Administers miscellaneous employee benefits: service anniversary awards, tuition reimbursement, student loan paydown, employee referral program, etc.
- Assists with compiling data and information for a variety of reasons, including audit, regular reporting, etc.
- Coordinates invoice payment for the department, including resolution of problems.
- Backup to HR Innovation Analyst
- Other duties as assigned
