DESCRIPTION

Colerain Township is seeking a highly qualified Human Resources Specialist who will be integral to the Township’s personnel management efforts. The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for a variety of functions including serving as liaison with each department for seamless employee management; provides human resources services, including employment processing, training and development, and records management; assists with the grievance process and provides interpretation of grievance-related language and mandates; makes recommendations to Department Directors on personnel issues; maintains personnel records of all employees; prepares and implements personnel policies and procedures; oversees Family Medical Leave and Bureau of Workers Compensation claims, leave management and reporting; manages employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; protects organizational values by keeping information confidential.
What You Should Bring
The ideal candidate will be someone with exceptional Human Resources experience within a local government environment who understands the unique circumstances that are encountered with public employees. A demonstrated experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism within a complex organization. The incumbent is expected to exercise considerable discretion in carrying out responsibilities independently and with awareness of organizational structure and culture and human resource issues and sensitivities. The incumbent should have thorough knowledge of human resources administration, experience developing, supervising, motivating, and recognizing personnel, communicating effectively as well as stress, conflict, and crisis management. The ability to handle multiple projects, professional written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

MINIMUM & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Three (3) years of experience in human resources, labor relations, employee training, organizational development, budgeting, policy development, etc. preferably with a local government agency. PELRA, PHR, SPHR or other certification in human resources is not required, but preference will be provided to candidates who hold these certifications. Proven track record of proactive, results-oriented leadership in recruiting, including formulating strategic recruiting objectives, plans and programs, developing creative recruitment solutions tailored to the specific requirements of the organization and expertise/ implementation/design of Applicant Tracking/Employment/HRIS systems; and provide training and staff development in a diverse and complex organization. Experience collaborating with senior and executive level managers, capable of establishing key relationships to develop rapport and ability to establish a high degree of trust among all levels of the organization.
