Description:
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, Canada, with day-to-day support from the General Manager, Chile, the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for providing people and operational support to the Leaders and Employees of Summit Chile. This role is responsible for all aspects of the employee life cycle from recruiting and onboarding through to departure as well as supporting the daily employee relations, engagement, development, payroll and other needs of employees. As a valuable member of Summit Nanotech’s People and Culture team, this role will also help develop and roll out programming across all of our locations.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or certificate in business, human resources or a related discipline.
- 10+ years’ experience in Human Resources or similar work
- Advanced ability to communicate in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)
- Knowledge of applicable employment legislation
- Ability to build relationships with and influence all levels of employees including leadership levels of the organization.
- Technically strong with tools and systems (payroll, ADP, excel)
- Passion for building culture and engagement
- Prior experience connecting global teams.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills – ability to initiate and engage in conversations about difficult or sensitive topics.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities (at time conflicting), remaining focused under pressure.
- Highly organized and driven to achieve.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for employees and leaders at the Summit Chile site on all HR programs, policies and questions.
- Play a key role in ensuring communication between and within the office is occurring and assisting with English to Spanish translations on all employee communications.
- Engage with head office on all payroll, contract, temporary and employee related matters and policy implementation.
- Create and maintain employee files and paperwork both electronically and physically.
- Partner with global HR team members to support and champion positive employee relations through effective communication, programs and practices.
- Ensure we have the right policies in place to protect the company and our employees.
- Support leaders with necessary recruitments process including role approvals, posting positions, company fit interviews and the creation of employment contracts.
- Recruit for new roles as needed, including posting positions, participating in interviews, the creation of employment contracts, background checks, onboarding and orientation as required.
- Take action to solve problems and suggest proactive approaches as well as potential solutions to management issues.
Provide remuneration information for the end of the month to the payroll provider for payment of salaries. Partner with finance and our provider to ensure timely and accurate payments. Coordinate the payroll process and solve the differences with employees
- Proactively organize and coordinate activities and events to increase employee engagement, connection and retention.
- Work on and create new labor and compliance policies for the company according to Chilean legislation.
- Work with our local lawyers and head office to represent the company in any labor issues with the local labor department. Partner and support HSE to ensure compliance on all required activities.
