Description:
Position Summary:
The Human Resource Specialist will provide compassionate, engaging, and innovative day to day support to assigned areas as it applies to people and culture experiences and operations. This includes, but is not limited to team member recruitment, onboarding, engagement, development, training, safety, compliance, benefit administration, leaves of absence, performance, etc. Ensure applicable state and federal HR laws and regulations are followed, while also looking for opportunities to innovate continuous quality improvement.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma with 4 6 years working in HR or compliance related field; Bachelors degree in HR Administration, Business administration or relevant field preferred
- Successful work experience as a Benefits Specialist, Human Resources Specialist, officer, administrator or Coordinator
- Strong working knowledge of HR functions and procedures (e.g. pay and benefits, recruitment, training, and development)
- Functional knowledge in the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan is highly preferred.
- Commitment to staying current on the understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, knowledge of HRMS (Paycom is a plus)
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Aptitude for critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making
- Strength of character, ethics, and commitment, and reliability
- Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
- Ability to function at a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Human Resource Specialist, shall do the following:
- Assist in open enrollment and benefit management for team members including enrollments, changes, ACA and terminations.
- Support Director, HR Generalists/Recruiters, People & Culture Analyst and Training Specialist in day-to-day HR operations.
- Serve as primary contact for all employees regarding HR related issues, inquiries and concerns.
- Provide support to the recruitment function to include coordination, screening, tracking, and other duties as needed.
- Maintains team member files and records in electronic (HRIS) and paper format.
- Manage the administrative tasks associated with the onboarding/offboarding process, including new hire/exit paperwork, emails, system updates, contacting payroll, IT and sending paperwork as needed.
- Support the training function through coordinating training classes, events, meetings, and team member communications.
- Administrative support for new employee orientation and ongoing team member engagement and development including new hire paperwork, orientation and training materials, generating log in information and notifications.
- Support Director and HR Generalists where needed in performance management administration and processing.
- Assist in maintaining the integrity and compliance of the agencys HR system, document management, and other applicable platforms to support the work of the department including cross-program collaboration within the agency.
