Description:

Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada’s largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam’s strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets.
We are currently searching for a student to join our human resources team at our corporate office on Kempt Road in Halifax. This position is available to start on a part-time basis during the school year and will lead to full-time for the summer months.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program and have an interest in Human Resources or looking to pursue further education in Human Resources;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner;
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is considered an asset;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and be flexible;
  • Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential information

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:

o Posting job vacancies;
o Screening candidates;
o Scheduling interviews;
o Checking references;
o Organizing supporting documents;
o Ensuring completion of background check;

o Preparing new hire paperwork.

  • Training:

o Assigning employee online training;

o Tracking and maintaining records and following-up with employees as required;

  • Completing data entry and administration;
  • Other tasks and projects as required.
